Tourist Flow
According to a report by Azernews, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has predicted that the number of tourists from Russia visiting Turkey in 2023 will reach at least 6.3 million people. However, this figure is still 10% lower than the pre-pandemic levels.
The report stated that the tourist flow from Russia to Turkey will not reach the record high of 7 million visits in 2019, with the lag estimated at around 10%.
ATOR cited figures from Turkey’s Culture and Tourism Ministry which showed that 6.08 million Russians visited the country between January and November 2023, making Russia the leading country in terms of tourist flow to Turkey in that period. Germany and the United Kingdom followed behind.
The report also added that the flow of Russian tourists to Turkey has increased by 23% compared to the same period in 2022, but it is still 11.7% lower than the same period in 2019.
